As Director and lead teacher of Edie’s Retreat my philosophy is that everyone has their own unique creative abilities and with the support of good instruction people of all ages can enjoy making art. My dream to have my own space to teach art in small groups came true when my studio, Edie’s Retreat, was built in May of 2005. I began teaching camps and workshops a month later. I hold a BFA in Art Education from the University of Texas and have continued my artisitic growth though attending art education conferences and workshops along with sharing experiences with colleagues. My experience includes 27 years teaching Art in the public school system, including 14 years at Highland Park Elementary in the Austin Independent School District. Prior to teaching in Austin ISD, I taught in Del Valle Independent School District were I was awarded the honor of teacher of the year. At this time I am enjoying being a guest sculpture teacher at St. Andrews Upper School. Along with experience in the school system, I have taught at the Austin Museum of Art, Laguna Gloria Art School and the Daugherty Cultural Arts Center.
